Privacy policy
The short version: no accounts, no ads and no cookies. We count visits with cookieless, aggregated analytics, and your practice progress stays in your own browser.
Summary
No accounts. You don’t sign up, so we don’t hold a profile about you.
No ads and no cookies. We don’t run advertising or cross-site tracking, and we don’t set cookies.
Cookieless visit counts. Vercel Web Analytics tells us which pages are visited, in aggregate. It sets no cookies and builds no profile of you.
Your progress stays with you. Answers, results, your theme choice and flashcard progress are saved in your browser on your device, not on our servers.
Two services see each page request: our host, Vercel (which also runs the visit counts), and Google Fonts. Each receives your IP address and basic browser details.
Who we are
SecurityMocks (“we”, “us”) runs this website, a self-study practice-test site for the CompTIA Security+ exam. SecurityMocks is not affiliated with CompTIA.
What we collect
Very little. You don’t need an account, and the site has no sign-up form and no advertising. We don’t set cookies. The only information we see is aggregated visit statistics, described below.
If we add features that change this, such as accounts or payments, we’ll update this policy first. See changes to this policy.
What’s stored in your browser
Some features save information in your browser’s local storage on your device, so they work without an account:
- your answers and progress in a test, so you can pick up where you left off;
- your latest result for each test, so the results page survives a reload;
- your light or dark theme choice;
- your flashcard and objectives-checklist progress;
- which practice questions you have seen, so objective drills can prefer unseen ones.
This information stays on your device. It isn’t sent to us, and we can’t see it. Anyone else who uses the same browser profile on that device could see it, and it doesn’t follow you to another browser or device.
Visit statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, provided by Vercel Inc., to see how many people visit and which pages they use, so we know what to improve. It works without cookies and without storing anything on your device.
For each page view it records the time, the page address, the referring page, your approximate location (country, region and city, derived from your IP address), and your browser, operating system and device type. Visits are counted with an identifier calculated from the request that changes every day; Vercel discards it, and the visit session, after 24 hours. We only see aggregated reports, not individual visitors. Traffic from known bots is excluded.
We use these statistics only to understand and improve the site. They are not used for advertising, profiling or tracking you across other sites.
Fonts from Google
Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts. To deliver them, your browser connects to Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address and basic details such as your browser type and the address of our site. Google’s handling of that information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Our hosting provider
Our pages are delivered by Vercel Inc. When you load a page, Vercel’s servers receive your IP address and request details, such as the page requested and your browser type, and may keep them in short-lived logs for security and reliability. Vercel’s handling of that information is covered by the Vercel Privacy Policy.
If you email us
We receive your email address and whatever you write. We use them only to reply and to fix any problem you report, and we don’t add you to a mailing list.
How to clear stored data
You can delete everything this site has saved in your browser at any time:
- Open your browser’s settings for this site. In most browsers you can reach them from the icon to the left of the address bar.
- Choose the option to clear or delete the site’s data.
You can also clear “cookies and site data” in your browser’s privacy settings, which removes data from other sites too. Either way, your saved answers, results, theme choice and flashcard progress are deleted for good, because we don’t keep a copy.
Changes to this policy
If we add accounts, payments or anything else that changes what we collect, we’ll update this page before the change goes live and change the date at the top.
