About SecurityMocks

Who we are

SecurityMocks is a self-study practice-test site for the CompTIA Security+ exam. We write original practice questions to the public SY0-801 exam objectives and build full-length, timed mock tests around them.

The same team runs mock-test sites for other exams. They’re all built on one idea: a practice question is only as useful as its explanation. So every question tells you why the right answer is right and why each of the others is wrong.

We’re independent. We’re not affiliated with CompTIA, and CompTIA doesn’t endorse or review our material.

What we believe

• Explain every option. The wrong answers are where the learning is. They’re the mistakes you’re most likely to make on exam day.
• Original questions only. We write every question from scratch. We never use recalled or leaked exam content, which breaks CompTIA’s candidate agreement and can cost you your certification.
• Honest scores. Our scaled scores are estimates from our own question bank, not CompTIA’s scoring algorithm, and we say so wherever we show one. See how the passing score works.
• No invented proof. No made-up reviews, ratings, pass rates or user counts. When we have real feedback, we’ll show it.
• No wall to start. Mock Test 1 is free in full, with no sign-up, no card and no ads.

Research first

To decide what to build, we read what Security+ candidates say they need: 2,343 “I passed” posts on r/CompTIA from 2024 to November 2026, plus the written reviews of the most popular Security+ practice banks. Six needs came up again and again:

• Realistic, interactive PBQs
• An explanation for every option
• Clear, error-free wording
• Realistic difficulty
• An honest readiness signal
• An exam-like interface

Each one shaped a feature, from the PBQ formats to the score report. The research section on our homepage shows what we found and what we built in response.

We also work from CompTIA’s published SY0-801 objectives (version 2.0), describe them in our own words, and tag every question to the objective it tests. Read how we write and review questions.

We’re new

We’re launching alongside SY0-801, which CompTIA expects to release on or around November 17, 2026. That means we don’t have learner reviews or a long track record yet, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Some features are still being built, including accounts. If something is missing, broken or wrong, please tell us. Every report makes the questions better for the next person.
